“ Let’s start by noting that the area is really bad. It’s a very poor neighborhood with just a sense of depression surrounding it. However, this place is so good that u should just brave a train ride to Pulaski, walk over (don’t talk to anyone and ignore the people sleeping on the street) to the ordering window, order the food, eat it there or on the train ride home. These guys would be worth 3 Michelin stars, worth the detour. Also the portions are super generous and the price is very cheap. ”

The Maxwell Street Polish with fries was spot on—the sausage had a great snap, the grilled onions brought just the right sweetness, and the fries were hot and crispy. Service was fast, and the staff were welcoming without overdoing it. It’s definitely a no-frills kind of place, but that’s part of the charm, and you can feel the history behind it. A solid, affordable meal that makes you want to come back. ”
